lighthouse Streiti

Lighthouse Streiti (Streitisviti) in June 2008. The present lighthouse stands at the spit of land Streitishorn south of Breiðdalsvík at the place of a formerly steel lattice tower, which was built in 1922. This was demolished in 1958 and replaced by a lighthouse at the island of Hlöðu, which was built in 1957. The lighthouse of Hlöðu was destroyed in January, 1984 in a strong storm.
The lighthouse is good to be seen from the ring road. The last part from the ring road to the lighthouse we wouldn't drive by normal passenger car, but is isn't far by foot.
