lighthouse Selvogur

Lighthouse Selvogur (Selvogsviti) in June 2008. The first lighthouse on this place was a steel lattice tower, which was built in 1919. After only 10 years of use he was diminished and a new stone tower was established.
We have reached the lighthouse via the road 38 from Hveragerði and then via the road 427. This road is a gravel road, but well practicably. It leads by kilometre-wide lava fields with volcano cones. Near Selvogur turn to the left into direction to the coast and shortly before the coast follow the way again to the left. Go so far as you credit with your car. We have turned off our car as soon as and went by foot the last part to the lighthouse. The lighthouse recieved just a new coat of paint.
