lighthouse Inisheer

Lighthouse Inisheer in September 2010. This sea light is located on the smallest of the Aran Islands near the west coast of Ireland and guides the ships into the southern entrance of Galway Bay. We took the picture from the Cliffs of Moher, the most spectacular and highest cliffs of the Green Island. But it is possible to reach the Aran Island by taking a ferryboat.
When the lighthouse on Inisheer was established in 1872, the lighthouse on Inishmore, a further one of the Aran Islands, was discontinued. At first the lighthouse had a fixed white light with a red sector over the Finnis Rock. Only at 31 Januar 1913 the light character was changed from fixed to an isophase character, at first of twenty seconds.
